Submagic Burned-In Captions n8n Workflow Automation (Video)

Turn any publicly accessible video into a captioned result—automatically

This n8n workflow uses the Submagic API to create a Submagic project that generates burned-in captions for your video, then polls until rendering completes and returns download links for the captioned video.

What this workflow does

• Manual start: The workflow begins when you manually run it in n8n.
• Set inputs: You provide the video URL, a project title, and the language for transcription.
• Create a Submagic project: It calls Submagic to download the video, transcribe it, and render captions burned into the video.
• Poll status until complete: It waits 30 seconds, requests the project status, and repeats the wait/check loop until Submagic reports the project as completed.
• Return outputs: When done, it outputs the captioned video details, including the download URL, direct URL, and the project ID.

Technical details (n8n + Submagic)

• Submagic API key authentication: Create an n8n “HTTP Header Auth” credential using header name x-api-key.
• HTTP requests: One HTTP request creates the Submagic project; another checks project status.
• Nodes used: manual trigger, if, set, wait, sticky note, http request.
• Video requirement: Use a publicly reachable URL (Google Drive sharing links work; YouTube URLs do not, as they require Subm… access).

Note on credits: A Submagic trial includes API access on its own monthly credit allowance, metered separately from app credits (one credit per minute of video).
