Weekly Supplier Contract Renewal Risk Checks — Powered by Sheets + Groq + Slack
This n8n workflow automatically evaluates supplier contracts every week by merging Google Sheets contract and performance data, calculating a renewal risk score, generating Groq LLM insights, and alerting high-risk suppliers in Slack—while logging results back to Google Sheets.
What this workflow does
Designed for supplier renewal decision-making, the workflow follows a clear pipeline:
- Runs weekly on a schedule to keep contract risk monitoring up to date.
- Pulls data from two Google Sheets spreadsheets—one for supplier contracts and one for supplier performance metrics.
- Matches and combines records by supplier_name to produce a single evaluation per supplier contract.
- Calculates days to renewal, a risk score, and a “silent value leakage” indicator based on usage, SLA breaches, delivery, quality, and pricing changes.
- Calls a Groq-hosted LLM to produce human-readable output: risk level, decision rationale, and negotiation guidance for each contract.
- Flags high risk (score ≥ 40), posts a detailed alert to a Slack channel, and appends the contract plus a suggested action to a “High Risk” tab in Google Sheets.
- Sends lower-risk contracts to a separate Google Sheets tab for ongoing tracking with suggested actions and status.
Use cases
- Renewal teams want early warnings on supplier contracts that may lead to value leakage or SLA concerns.
- SaaS operators and procurement managers need a repeatable supplier contract risk scoring process.
- Automation engineers want a practical n8n workflow that combines Sheets data, LLM reasoning, and Slack notifications.
Technical details
- Integrations: Google Sheets (source, merge, and “Contract Insights” output), Slack
- LLM: Groq-hosted LLM for risk level and negotiation guidance
- n8n nodes used: if, set, code, merge, slack, sticky note
-
Key requirement: both source sheets must share a common key field named
supplier_name
Set it up once, then rely on consistent weekly supplier contract renewal risk insights—with Slack alerts for the contracts that need attention first.
