Triage App Store & Google Play reviews automatically—send the right alerts to Slack with Apify + OpenAI

This n8n workflow pulls fresh App Store and Google Play reviews via Apify every 12 hours, deduplicates them in Google Sheets, classifies sentiment and topics with OpenAI (or a rules fallback), drafts reply text, and routes low-star, unanswered reviews to the right Slack channels.

What this workflow does

  • Runs on schedule: executes twice daily (every 12 hours).
  • Fetches new reviews: calls the Apify actor “App Reviews Unified” for your configured iOS and Android app IDs.
  • Slack on failures/no data: alerts Slack if the Apify request fails or returns no reviews.
  • Deduplicates with Google Sheets: reads an existing review log from Google Sheets and keeps only reviews not yet logged (requires a “Review ID” column).
  • Classifies & drafts replies: optionally sends each new review to OpenAI to assign topic and sentiment, create a short summary, and draft a public reply; if AI is disabled or invalid JSON is returned, it falls back to keyword rules.
  • Logs results: appends newly found reviews (including classification fields) to Google Sheets.
  • Routes critical reviews to Slack: filters for low-star and unanswered reviews and routes them by topic:
    • bugs/login/performance → engineering Slack channel
    • billing → billing Slack channel
    • everything else → support Slack channel

Use cases

  • SaaS teams that want faster response times to negative App Store reviews.
  • Support/engineering workflows that route issues to the correct team automatically.
  • Operators who need an auditable review history with classification fields in Google Sheets.

Technical details
