This n8n workflow downloads your site’s XML sitemap every week, checks every listed page URL for HTTP status issues, and sends a single, consolidated Slack alert when something fails (non-200 responses or sitemap fetch errors).

What this workflow does

• Runs on a weekly schedule: every Monday at 09:00 via a schedule trigger.
• Fetches your sitemap: loads the configured sitemap URL using an HTTP request (supports sitemap indexes as well as direct urlset sitemaps).
• Handles sitemap failures: if the sitemap request fails, it immediately posts a failure notice to your selected Slack channel.
• Parses URLs and indexes: reads the sitemap XML, extracts URLs from urlset, or—when it’s a sitemap index—expands it by fetching and parsing each child sitemap.
• Checks page health: splits collected URLs into items and requests page URLs in batches of 5 with a 10-second timeout, capturing the HTTP response status.
• Filters and reports issues: collects only URLs that do not return 200, then builds one summary message listing failing status codes and URLs.
• Posts one Slack message: sends the aggregated results to the configured Slack channel (no noisy per-URL alerts).

Technical details

• Scheduling: schedule trigger (Monday 09:00).

• Slack alerts: posts messages to Slack (requires Slack credentials with chat:write).

Setup: update the sitemap URL in the Config step, add Slack API credentials + channel ID, then adjust timeout/batch size if needed for your site’s scale.
