This n8n workflow connects WhatsApp Business Cloud with OpenAI and Supabase/PostgreSQL to let patients request lab report status or receive a ready report PDF in English, Urdu, or Roman Urdu. It also enforces access control by matching the sender’s WhatsApp number to an authorized number stored with each report.

What this workflow does

• Receives WhatsApp text messages and ignores non-text or invalid messages.
• Loads session context from Supabase, then uses OpenAI to classify intent (status check, send PDF, or general query), extract a Report ID or full patient name, and detect reply language.
• Normalizes identifiers and can reuse recently verified report context for short follow-ups.
• Looks up matching report records in Supabase and applies access control by verifying the incoming WhatsApp number matches authorized_whatsapp on the report.
• Status check reply: responds with “ready” or “pending” based on the report_status field.
• PDF delivery: when authorized and the report is ready, validates the PDF URL host, downloads the PDF over HTTPS, and sends it back to the same WhatsApp number as a document.
• General questions: uses OpenAI with PostgreSQL chat memory to draft a short WhatsApp reply in the user’s language.
