Turn any YouTube video into a ready-to-publish blog post and a 5–8 tweet thread—automatically—using n8n, Supadata, and OpenAI
This n8n automation takes a YouTube URL from an n8n form, fetches the video transcript via Supadata (with async polling for longer videos), then uses OpenAI to generate a standalone 600–900 word blog post and a numbered 5–8 tweet thread from the same transcript.
What this workflow does
- Collects a YouTube URL using an n8n form trigger.
- Requests the transcript from Supadata using the Supadata Transcript API and continues even if the initial request returns an error.
- Handles async transcript jobs: when Supadata returns an async job ID, it waits briefly and polls until the transcript job completes or fails.
- Prepares transcript input: extracts transcript text (or an error message) and truncates it to 8,000 characters.
-
Generates content with OpenAI:
- A blog post (about 600–900 words) including a title, sections, and a closing takeaway.
- A numbered tweet thread of 5–8 tweets, with each tweet kept under 280 characters.
Use cases
- Repurpose YouTube content into a blog workflow for SaaS marketing teams.
- Create consistent social follow-ups by converting video transcripts into tweet threads for LinkedIn/X-style publishing.
- Automation engineers and n8n users testing end-to-end “video → transcript → multi-format copy” pipelines.
